Are you ready for Kilt Camp? Here are a few pointers to get yourself in shape for the big week. It’s coming up fast!
1. Catch up on sleep now. You may not be sleeping a whole lot between Sunday and Friday. This isn’t just because of the work you’ll be doing ( I try to discourage people from working late in the evening–nothing good happens then) but because there’s just too much fun to be had in the evening, after the kids are in bed.
2.Get your stuff together, and make sure that you have the following:
your copy of The Art of Kiltmaking
a portable light such as an Ott Lite (optional)
Bring your sewing box if you have one–you never know what might come in handy. Some people use a small footstool to position their feet more comfortably.
3. Get your “kilt” ready for the Dressed to Kilt Fashion Show (optional)
This is a fun event, part of the talent show that the kids do every year. Silly, funny, fantastic kilts will be the order of the day.
4. Make a trip to the store for snacks, goodies, and adult beverages. This is also a bit of a tradition– we like to get together in the evenings and chat, eat, and have fun.
5. Pack comfortable, cool clothing. Emma Willard School is beautiful, but not air conditioned. The rooms are generally very comfortable, but can become warm if the weather is hot and humid.
Plan to come as early as you can, as the kiltmakers will be meeting at 3:00pm on Sunday.
I look forward to meeting all of you on Sunday!!
